The third meeting of the Use in Mobility Vertical reveals the progress made on the Basque Country's first hydrogen refuelling station, the world's first on-board cracking equipment and the first H2 technical test centre at the EIC.

The third meeting of the BH2C Use in Mobility Vertical, led by EVE and Repsol, was held on Thursday, 18 April, within the MUBIL Mobility Expo fair, at the Ficoba Exhibition Centre in Irún. The event brought together 40 people from the 22 organisations that form part of this Vertical.

Miguel Palacio, speaking on behalf of Repsol, detailed the latest developments in the Vertical, as well as the most relevant regulatory aspects affecting the sector in recent months. He also provided an update on the status of the H2 Abanto mobility project, which has already begun with the earthworks for the construction of the first hydrogen refuelling station in the Basque Country.

Also present at the meeting were Guillermo García-Miguel from H2SITE, who gave a presentation on the world's first on-board cracking equipment developed by the company within the framework of the H2OCEAN project; and Rubén Pozo, from Bureau Veritas Sustainable Fuels Management, a company that has started to develop its own independent hydrogen measurement laboratory services, open and available to any hydrogen supplier. Located in Vizcaya at the EIC, this pioneer hydrogen and electrolysis technical test centre of Bureau Veritas will be able to analyse a large number of samples from the rest of Spain, Portugal, France and even Europe, and is due to start its activity in the second quarter of 2024.

After the coffee break, the meeting attendees were given a tour of the MUBIL Mobility Expo fair, where they learnt about the hydrogen mobility activity of more than 10 exhibitors and were able to identify synergies and opportunities for collaboration. The meeting ended with a networking cocktail on the rooftop of the Ficoba Exhibition Centre.

All the presentations used in the conference will soon be available in the Members section of the BH2C website, in the Documentation sub-section.
